What is YMAGINA?

YMAGINA (Young Medievalist Germanists In North America) is a loose confederation of junior scholars working on all aspects of medieval German literature and culture. The organization was founded in 2000 in order to promote professional contacts and encourage networking among medievalists in the United States and abroad.

Our aim is reach out to all scholars from the dissertation phase to the rank of Associate Professor, although our activities provide democratic fora for all people interested in this period.

YMAGINA supports scholarship of outstanding quality in a range of disciplines. By sponsoring panels at national and international conferences, the organization aims to increase the visibility of medievalists and Medieval Studies within the field of German Studies.

YMAGINA is committed to building bridges to modernist colleagues and crossing disciplinary boundaries.
